3 SD cities break snowfall records Thursday

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The latest spring snowstorm to hit the Dakotas was another record-breaker.
• The National Weather Service says the 2.9 inches of snow that fell in Sioux Falls on Thursday broke the city record for the date of 0.6 inches in 1978. The 3.3 inches in Huron broke that city's April 18, 1995, record of 1.8 inches. Mitchell's April 18, 1910, record of 2 inches was exceeded by 1.3 inches Thursday.
• Spring snowstorms have been crossing the Dakotas for more than a week. Earlier storms broke all-time daily snowfall records in both the South Dakota city of Rapid City and the North Dakota city of Bismarck.

Rural electrics in ND, SD getting federal loans

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Two rural electric cooperatives in the Dakotas are getting federal financial help as part of an effort to improve electric service in 13 states.
• The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development agency is providing nearly $280 million for various projects to increase the reliability of rural electric systems. Officials say the money will result in the construction of more than 1,900 miles of new or improved electrical lines.
• The Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative Inc. is getting a $15 million loan to build more than 125 miles of line to service customers in North Dakota and South Dakota.
• Clay-Union Electric Corp. in South Dakota is getting a $6.9 million loan for nearly 120 miles of line.

SD AG says 2 plead guilty in alleged travel scam

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says two South Carolina women have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in an alleged travel scam.
• Thirty-eight-year-old Angie Lee-Barnes, of Daniel Island, S.C., and 50-year-old Teresa Poston Duffee, of Georgetown, S.C., pleaded guilty to failure to inform a buyer of a right to cancel.
• Jackley says the charges stemmed from sales presentations made at a Sioux Falls hotel in December.
