for substance abuse treatment, Dosch said. The insurance policies provided under the new health care exchanges will provide that coverage to people who are currently uninsured, he said.
• "It means all of a sudden people are going to have coverage for conditions heretofore they hadn't had coverage for. Important financial barriers will be removed," Dosch said.
• The substance abuse treatment system will be challenged to meet an increased demand for service, Dosch said.
• "We are watching it closely to see how it's going to play out," he said.
• Pollreisz said some people who have drug or alcohol problems don't seek treatment.

Mines president search narrowed to 4 finalists

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota's Board of Regents says the search for a new president for the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has been narrowed to four finalists.
• They are acting president Duane Hrncir (HURN'-sur); Rochester Institute of Technology dean H. Fred Walker in New York; Desert Research Institute President Stephen Wells in Nevada; and entrepreneur and former Congresswoman Heather Wilson of New Mexico.
• The finalists are scheduled to be on the Rapid City campus on Thursday and Friday.
• The Board of Regents is seeking a successor for former Mines President Robert Wharton, who died last September.

Dakotans call Boston Marathon bombings tragic

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Organizers of the Fargo Marathon will do everything necessary to protect runners at the race next month in the wake of the blasts at the Boston Marathon, the director of the race in North Dakota's largest city said.
• The explosions at the finish line in Boston on Monday killed three people and wounded more than 140 others. Fargo Marathon director Mark Knutson told The Forum newspaper that the chilling attacks made him very sad.
• "I've already been asked if we are going to increase security," Knutson said of the May 18 Fargo Marathon, which is expected to attract more than 20,000 runners. "We'll take whatever steps necessary but something like this, it's pretty much impossible to prevent."
