system and since Groton has gotten this grant several times in the last couple years, they were low on the points and more than likely won't qualify for the grant the next couple of times.
• The board decided to try for the FEMA grant again. They will try to get a grass rig for the Bath station and a 6-wheel tanker for Groton. The rescue squad would also like an electric cart for the rescue truck.
• Rescue was also authorized to purchase some cabinets for the fire hall to be used to store supplies. They will also buy some necessary equipment to finish off a rope rescue team. Three members are currently trained in rope rescue.
• The board is waiting to hear back on the purchase of a used ambulance. Aberdeen won't make a decision until they know the date of arrival for their new ambulance.
• Fire Chief Dion Bahr reported that there is problem with the roads not being opened in Bath for the fire trucks to respond. This could become a major problem. The board will discuss the issue with the Bath Township board.
• Bahr also reminded the board that the Groton Firemen will be hosting their fun night this Saturday in conjunction with the Columbia Firemen. The proceeds from the event will be given to the Albrecht family who lost their home to a fire.
• The firemen maintain their own account and do their own fundraising in order to help support their community service activities such as fire week, Halloween and other projects.

Spring Planting On Hold

The late winter storms hitting the area have put a damper on any spring planting. The last storm dropped eight inches of snow over the weekend and more is projected to fall on the area as Winter Storm Yogi enters the area on Wednesday.
