• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota is recognizing emergency police, fire and medical dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week next week.
• National Public Safety Telecommunications week is meant to be a time when citizens can thank public safety men and women who respond to emergency calls and dispatch emergency professionals and equipment during times of crisis.
• The week runs April 14-20.
• State 9-1-1 Coordinator Shawnie Rechtenbaugh in the Department of Public Safety says dispatchers work tirelessly to answer emergency calls, dispatch responders and provide life-saving instructions to South Dakotans.

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- State employees who take courses at South Dakota's three off-campus public university centers will soon get the same tuition break as those taking classes on campus.
• State workers enrolled in courses delivered on campus at one of the state's six public universities have been receiving a 50 percent tuition break. Beginning this summer, the tuition break will also be available to state employees taking courses at Capital University Center in Pierre, University Center in Sioux Falls and University Center in Rapid City.
• Jack Warner, executive director of the South Dakota Board of Regents, says the change is expected to encourage more state employees to continue their educations at the off-campus university centers.
• The break reduces tuition about $67 per undergraduate credit hour and $101 per graduate credit hour.
