Claremont Recorder by Beverly Patterson

• We did turn the clocks ahead, right? And it was only an hour, right?  I'm beginning to wonder as it feels and looks more like November than April to me.  I did see a robin last week and if the impending snow actually arrives I'm betting the robins will be scheduling a meeting with upper management to see just what can be done to switch the calendar back to  April.  I did get a nice two mile walk accomplished on Sunday but I did get rained on.  Walking in the rain has never bothered me all that much.  I always secretly hope that if I get really drenched maybe I'll shrink!
• Doug and Tami Svatos entertained guests for Easter at their home on Saturday March 30th.  Those enjoying the holiday with them were Jack Kimball, Tom, Jess, Ashlyn and Mia Feser, and Jamie Walton and Dustin Burgland.
• Jim and Dawn (Frey) Palmer of Fargo spent Easter Sunday at the home of Darwin and Shirley Frey.
• The Lake Region Pheasant Restoration fundraiser was held at the Langford Legion Hall on Saturday, April 6th.  Once again a very large number of people were in attendance to enjoy the fabulous steak supper served prior to the auctioning of numerous high quality items such as limited edition prints, framed canvas prints, guns and assorted miscellaneous items.  If you've never participated you might want to check it out next year.  There were also opportunities to purchase chances on silent auction items, door prizes, the gun buy back raffle, penny raffle, ticket tables, and paddle wheel.  It's an entertaining evening and I for one had a wonderful time!
• Julie Fliehs, Bonnie Olson and Janice Fliehs traveled to Ellendale ND on Sunday afternoon, April 7th.  They attended the showing and display of an "apron" collection that belongs to Janice Fliehs' niece, Lana Schaunaman of Ashley ND.  The event was held at the Historic Opera House and Museum in Ellendale.  It's a quite impressive building that is being renovated by volunteer members of the non profit organization O.P.E.R.A.  Lana Schaunaman presented an incredibly fascinating one hour and fifteen minute program pertaining to her collection.  The ladies had a wonderful time.
• Ann Bailey enjoyed a visit with her daughter Bonita and husband Dick Edwards on Sunday afternoon, April 7th.
• As I end the Claremont News for this week I would like to encourage you to give me a call or email me with your happenings.  I have not quite gotten the hang of being a nose for news yet so I desperately need your help.  My phone number is 605-294-5874 and my email address is beverlypatterson555@yahoo.com.  As I sit here thinking about how many times I've complained about the weather recently I ran across a quote that made me chuckle and decided to share it with you.  Smile! Tomorrow could be a lot worse!  I'm fearing there's a bit of pessimism woven into that but in this neck of the woods it's a bit realistic too!  Have a great week!
