Putney Putovers

•   The Putney Putovers 4-H Club met March 4, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Community Center. President Alexis Simon called the meeting to order. Caleb Hanten led the American Flag Pledge, Cole Simon led the State Flag Pledge and Kasey Hinman led the 4-H Flag Pledge. Roll Call Topic was "A Tip to Handel Stress." The secretary's report was read. Emma Donley moved to accept the report and Porter Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed. The treasurer's report was given. Carly Wheeting moved to accept the treasurer's report and Taryn Taylor seconded the motion. The motion passed. Carly Wheeting and Portia Ketterling reported for community service. Carly helped with a wrestling match and coached 5th and 6th graders. Portia worked at a wrestling match.
•  Old Business: Hantens and Simons were thanked for lining up the Christmas party. Members are reminded to cash their 4-H premium checks.
•  New Business: The March Newshound was read. Highlights of the Newshound are as follows: 4-H Camp will be held June 10-12 and June 13-15. Members 14 and older can apply to be counselors. Fruit pick up is March 19. Teen leadership conference is June 3-7 at SDSU. Carly Wheeting made a motion that the club donates $60 to the "Sweet Dreams Donation" and the motion passed. There will be an "Inbetween" leadership camp on March 23rd for 8-13 year olds. The 4-H Phone-a-thon is April 7-8 from 5-9. 4-H insurance is due to Treasurer Portia Ketterling ($1.50 for regular members, $2.50 for horse members, and $40.00 for rodeo coverage.) Important upcoming dates to remember - Public Presentation day July 11; Fashion Review July 17; Special Foods July 3; 4-H/FFA judging contest in Groton April 6; Livestock weigh in May 17th;Livestock verification forms May 24th.  The 4-H dog project practices begin March 10.
•  The next 4-H meeting will be April 8th with Emma Donley and Michaela Cutler as hostesses. Michaela Culter moved to adjorn the meeting. Ashley Gibbs seconded the motion and the motion passed.
•  Logan Hinman and Kasey Hinman were hostesses for the meeting. The following talks and demonstrations were given: Alexis Hanten- "Healthy Snacks"; Caleb Hanten- "Five Easy Ways to Get Healthy"; Carly Wheeting- "Why Should You Join 4-H"; Emma Donley- "The Parts of a Camera"; Ashley Gibbs- "Defending Yourself Against Diabetes"; Abby Gibbs- "Color in Quilts"; Portia Ketterling- "Eight Non Sandwich School Lunch Ideas."
