A potent spring snowstorm will take shape over the central Rockies today and pull out into the Central Plains tonight. Snow will spread into western and central South Dakota this afternoon and evening, then spread eastward overnight. Winter storm watches and warnings are in place. The heaviest snow is expected across south central South Dakota where nearly a foot is possible.
