to make a positive change in the community.
Roy Olson: I got my start by being on the council for two years before running for mayor. I have been mayor for six years. In addition, I have successful business and am a developer in the Groton community.
What inspired you to run for public office?
• Kevin Nehls: That is the easiest question on here. My kids. Groton has always been my home, even when I had to leave for two years due to work. I still came home just about every weekend to be where I belong. I decided to run for mayor so that I can give back to a community that has given so much to me.
Roy Olson: I became interested in city government and decided to use my talents to give back to the community by running for office.
Closing comments:
• Roy Olson: I have enjoyed serving as your mayor for the past six years. I feel we have made a lot of progress in our infrastructure and we can now concentrate on our streets. We are in the process of converting our city to a different voltage to help with the increased demand and have already put in place new transformers in the

substations. We've relined or have replaced almost 75 percent of the sewer lines in town as part of our maintenance program.
Kevin Nehls: One topic that was not asked in this interview that I think is very important is the community involvement that a mayor should be doing. If elected mayor, I will be involved with community functions and out in the public as much as I can. I would also like to take this time to thank Brett Anderson and Doug Hamilton for their years of service as city council members. They both have devoted a lot of time and effort to our community.
