3 who sneaked onto SD racetrack hurt in crash

• JEFFERSON, S.D. (AP) -- Three 19-year-old males who authorities say sneaked onto a dirt racetrack in the southeastern South Dakota town of Jefferson to turn some laps were injured when their car rolled.
• Union County sheriff's deputies and South Dakota Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash Sunday afternoon at the Park Jefferson Speedway. Authorities say two of the three males were thrown from the car when it went out of control and rolled, and all three were hurt.
• They were taken to a hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. KCAU-TV reports that they have since been released.
• The sheriff's office says the owner of the track has indicated he will not press trespassing charges.

Mother of 3 SD kids killed in fire back in custody

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Sioux Falls woman facing child neglect and drug possession charges after a fire that killed her three children is back in custody after skipping a court hearing.
• Thirty-four-year-old Rhiannon White was to be arraigned last Thursday but didn't show up for court. A judge issued a warrant for her arrest, and she was apprehended later that day at a rural residence near Sibley, Iowa. She was extradited to South Dakota the following day.
• Authorities allege that White tested positive for drugs after the Dec. 22 house fire that killed 6-year-old Olivia Coon, 12-year-old Savannah Coon and 16-year-old Michael Hensley. White and her husband escaped with minor injuries by jumping from a second-floor window.

Survey suggests Midwest economy improving

• OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- A big jump in new orders suggests the economy is improving in nine Midwest and Plains states, but it's too soon to say whether that trend will continue, according to a monthly survey released Monday.
• The overall economic index for the region increased to 58.2 in March from February's 53.1. Creighton University economist Ernie Goss said the increase is encouraging because any score above 50 suggests growth.
