The Life of Margaret Sippel

• Services for Margaret Sippel, 91, of Groton, will 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 2 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton.  Rev. Craig Grams will officiate.  Burial will take place at a later date in Union Cemetery, Groton.
• Visitation will be held at the church from 4-8 p.m. on Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
• Margaret went to be with her Lord on March 27, 2013.
• Margaret V. Johnson was born on October 22, 1921 to Hilmer and Augusta (Carlson) Johnson on the family farm near Houghton, SD.  The family later moved to Claremont.  Margaret graduated from Claremont High School in 1939.
• Margaret and Marvin A. Sippel were united in marriage on December 16, 1942 at Webster.  They made their home on a farm northeast of Groton.  She helped with the family and feeding the livestock.  Together they had two children, Mary Ann and Marty.  Margaret taught Sunday School at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton for many years.  She loved to bowl on Claremont and Aberdeen leagues and worked at Control Data in Aberdeen.  Following her retirement in May of 1987, she volunteered at Golden Living Center, Groton for over 15 years.  Margaret enjoyed going to Watertown and Flandreau Casinos with friends and family. 
• Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Mary Ann of Aberdeen and Marty (Ellie) of Groton, one sister, Lorraine Sippel and one sister-in-law, Marie Gengerke, both of Groton.
• Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Marvin in 2007, one brother, Howard Johnson and two sisters, Guenhild Hanson and Mildred Kessler.
• Honorary Casketbearers will be her nieces, nephews and all of her friends.
• Casketbearers will be Chuck Kessler, Lyle Kessler, Bruce Sippel, Don Hanson.
