SD environmental projects get $39 million

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved nearly $39 million in grants and loans for projects that involve drinking water, wastewater, storm water and recycling.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard says the money will result in better drinking water, improved wastewater treatment and enhanced environmental protection.
• The awards include nearly $10 million in grants and grant amendments, and $28.7 million in low-interest loans.
• The grants and loans are administered by the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

SD GF&P hosting archery in schools tournament

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Students from across South Dakota will have a chance to show off their archery skills in Rapid City on Saturday at the Fourth Annual National Archery in the Schools Program State Tournament.
• The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Park says more than 500 students will compete for individual and team honors in three age divisions.
• Program coordinator Jason Kool says it's gratifying to see so many schools introduce the sport of archery into their curriculum.
• Events at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center begin at 8 a.m. MDT and a trophy ceremony is planned for 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Governor's mansion tours to start in June

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Weekly public tours at the South Dakota Governor's Mansion are set to start in June.
• This is the third season for the tours, and First Lady Linda Daugaard says she and Gov. Dennis Daugaard are happy to open up the mansion to the public.
• The weekly tours start June 5 and will be conducted each Wednesday in June, July and August. There will be no tour on July 3. The final tour of the summer will be on Aug. 28.
