Tribes to consult on new South Dakota state park

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Officials from the South Dakota Department of Games, Fish and Parks will meet with Native American tribes next month to discuss the development and interpretation of the new Good Earth State Park.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard recently signed a bill into law establishing the 615-acre Good Earth State Park at Blood Run. It's South Dakota's 13th state park.
• Blood Run was designated a national historic landmark in 1970. The area along the Big Sioux River bordering Iowa was used by thousands of Oneota Indians into the early 1700s. The area includes a large oak forest, rolling hills, flood plains, riverside bluffs and burial mounds.
• The meeting will take place April 8 in Sioux Falls.

Prescribed burns planned on Dakotas grasslands

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The U.S. Forest Service is planning prescribed burns on the Grand River and Sheyenne National Grasslands in the Dakotas.
• The Dakota Prairie Grasslands office says the work will be done as weather permits in the next month and a half. About 900 acres will be burned on the Grand River Ranger District in northwestern South Dakota and about 5,000 acres will be burned on the Sheyenne Ranger District in southeastern North Dakota.
• Grasslands officials say prescribed burns help keep native grasses and prairie habitat healthy while discouraging the growth of invasive species.

Augustana women make NCAA Div II Final Four

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The Augustana College women's basketball team is one of four remaining in the NCAA Division II tournament.
• The Vikings beat previously undefeated and top-ranked Clayton State 81-68 on Tuesday night to make it to the Final Four.
• Augustana plays Dowling College in the semifinals in San Antonio.
