County dispatch center not relaying calls to Groton

Concerns were raised at the monthly fireboard meeting about the problems with the Brown County Dispatch office. It seems dispatch is not calling out the Groton Department when the call originates from the area.
• "We are not getting the calls from dispatch," Tom Tietz, assistant fire chief said. "When we do get a call, it comes in late."
• One example cited was the recent accident on Saturday evening six miles outside of Groton. Careflight was called in and victims were transported by ambulance, but the Groton rescue squad was never called out.
• Groton Fire Chief Dion Bahr has discussed the issue with the dispatch office, but more action may be called for.
• "This could be a serious issue," Tietz said. "It could be a matter of life and death."
• Another major area of discussion was the proposed concrete work planned for this summer. Letters were sent to five contractors asking if they would like to submit a proposal bid. Two were returned, but questions were also raised. It seems that the

The recycling trailer is in Groton. It is located at the city shop at 10 East Railroad Ave. Don't forget, there is also a dumpster at the city shop for aluminum cans with the proceeds going to the pool.
