Then Donnie Decker checked into the game for the Vikings and was a ball of fire, scoring five points in the last 88 seconds of the quarter. Decker hit a three-pointer with 24 seconds left to give James Valley Christian a 36-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.
• In the third quarter, Langford made three of 11 field goals and James Valley Christian made eight of 14. The Lions made one of one free throw and the Vikings missed four free throw opportunities. Langford had one turnover that was converted into two points for the Vikings.
• The Lions found themselves playing catchup in the fourth quarter just trying to tie the game, which they did at 36, 40 and 42. After a media time out, the Vikings stepped up its defense. "They're a good team and we knew it was going to be a battle to the end," Raasch said. "Both of us played good defense.
