RC Stevens edges RC Central at state AA

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Steven Schaeffer had a game-high 23 points to lead Rapid City Stevens to a 56-50 win over Rapid City Central in the seventh-place game at the South Dakota boys Class AA basketball tournament on Saturday.
• Schaeffer was 7-for-11 from the field with a three-pointer and made 8 of 13 free throws for the Raiders (11-15). Joining him in double figures was Brett Bennett with 12 points. Sam McCloud pulled down 11 rebounds.
• Nathan Miller had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Cobblers (10-14). Jesse Riddle had three three-pointers and 11 points and John Fierro added 10.


Potter County holds off Arlington at state B

• ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- Kole Hawkinson and Chayce Hall carried the offense as Potter County beat Arlington 72-62 in the seventh-place game Saturday at the South Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament.

• Hawkinson had a game-high 29 points. He was 7-for-13 overall and 5-for-10 from the three-point line for the Battlers (23-2). He made 10 of 12 free throws. Hall made 8 of 17 shots and finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.
• Potter County led the Cardinals (17-7) by 10 at the half, 34-24.
• Tage Hagens had 16 points for Arlington, which shot 37 percent and went 2-for-18 on three-pointers. Andre King and Zach Warnke had 12 points each.

Spearfish beats Pine Ridge at state A

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Spearfish took charge in the second half to beat Pine Ridge 63-53 Saturday in the seventh-place game at the South Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament.
• The Spartans (19-7) trailed 30-29 at the half but went on top to stay in the third quarter. They shot 40 percent from the field and outscored the Thorpes 22-5 from the free throw line. The Spartans shot 35 free throws, while Pine Ridge (14-11) attempted 12.
• Dillon Orth had 19 points on 6-for-13 shooting and a 6-for-10 effort from the line. Blaine Bacon had 11 points and Zack Olson had 10.
• Jeff LeBeau led Pine Ridge with 14 points to go with seven rebounds.
