Platte-Geddes finishes third in Class A

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Platte-Geddes posted a 47-34 victory over Mobridge-Pollock on Saturday in the third-place game of the South Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament.
• Coby Johnson led the way for the Black Panthers (18-8) with a game-high 23 points. Hunter Johnson added 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Platte-Geddes outscored Mobridge-Pollock 12-4 in the third quarter to take a 34-22 lead.
• Zach Dockter led the Tigers (19-7) with 12 points and Mitchell Heumiller finished with nine.

Madison beats Tea Area to claim Class A title

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Madison defeated Tea Area 54-49 Saturday in the championship game of the South Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament.
• The Bulldogs went on a 16-2 run in the third quarter, erasing a 30-22 halftime deficit. Mason Sullivan led three players in double figures with 11 points for Madison (24-2). Jacob Giles and Tyler Wiebe each finished with 10 points.
• Connor Schaull led Tea Area (22-4) with 11 points and Riley Knutson had 11 points and seven rebounds.
• It was the fifth state title for Madison and their first since back-to-back championships in 2009-10.

Pierre Riggs claims state title in Class AA

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Lane Severyn helped power Pierre T.F. Riggs to a 50-39 victory Saturday over Brandon Valley in the championship game of the South Dakota boys Class AA basketball tournament.
• Severyn sank five 3-pointers and finished with 24 points and nine rebounds to lead the Governors (20-5) to a state title. Zach Hanson posted a double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
• Riggs, trailing 36-32 heading into the fourth quarter, outscored the Lynx 18-3 in the final eight minutes.
• Chase Marso led Brandon Valley (18-7) with 17 points and Jacob Adams added 13 points.
• It was the fourth state title in school history for Riggs, which also won titles in
