Wolters looking forward to facing Michigan, Burke

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Summit League player of the year Nate Wolters says he's looking forward to facing his Big Ten counterpart.
• Wolters will be defending Trey Burke when 12th seed South Dakota State faces fifth-seed Michigan in Auburn Hills, Mich., on Thursday. Wolters says he's had the chance to watch the Wolverines on television a few times and Burke is a good player, averaging 19.2 points per game.
• The Jackrabbits guard says he expects a more open game than the defensive Summit League final in which SDSU topped North Dakota State 73-67. He says the game should be fast paced.
• Wolters is averaging 22.7 games.

Michigan plays 1st NCAA tourney game close to home

• AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan won't have far to travel as it begins the NCAA tournament.
• The fourth-seeded Wolverines (26-7) will face No. 13 seed South Dakota State (25-9) on Thursday in a South Regional matchup at The Palace of Auburn Hills, located about an hour's drive from Michigan's campus.
• This game features two of the nation's top guards in Michigan's Trey Burke and South Dakota State's Nate Wolters.
• Burke was the Big Ten player of the year and a unanimous first-team all-Big Ten selection by the league's media and coaches. Wolters, the Summit League player of the year, averages 22.5 points and 5.8 assists per game.
• South Dakota State won the Summit League tournament to earn the conference's automatic NCAA bid for the second straight year.

Mom says son who died in river was 'biggest hero'

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The mother of a man who died in an icy South Dakota river while trying to rescue a 6-year-old boy says her son made the ultimate sacrifice.
