SD US Sen. Johnson will announce soon if he'll run

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota says he will announce later this month whether he will seek re-election in 2014.
• In a phone call with reporters, Johnson says he has not entirely made up his mind whether to seek a fourth term.
• Former Gov. Mike Rounds is seeking the Republican nomination for the Senate seat now held by Johnson. The South Dakota race is considered a key contest in the battle for political control of the Senate.
• Johnson says there's still plenty of time for him or another Democrat to prepare for next year's campaign.
• Democrats have speculated that if Johnson does not seek re-election, his son, Brendan, might run. Also mentioned as a possible Democratic Senate candidate is former U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.

Sturgis adult store owner wins court battle

• STURGIS, S.D. (AP) -- The owner of an adult entertainment store in Sturgis says he has no plans to move the business now that a federal judge has ruled the western South Dakota city violated his rights.
• Judge Jeffrey Viken said city employees' decisions concerning Dick and Jane's Naughty Spot were based on vague zoning regulations and were not constitutionally sound. City officials didn't comment on the ruling.
• Business owner David Eliason last spring agreed to move his business to a new, approved site in a deal with prosecutors who had charged him with violating a state law limiting where adult-theme businesses can be located. Eliason later decided to fight in court.

Royal DSM exec to oversee Poet-DSM ethanol venture

• EMMETSBURG, Iowa (AP) -- An executive with a Netherlands-based biotechnology company has been asked to lead a joint venture that is building a new type of ethanol plant in northern Iowa.
• Royal DSM, based in Delft, the Netherlands, has teamed with Sioux Falls, S.D.,-based Poet to create Poet-DSM Advanced Biofuels. The joint venture is building a
