• Math class has proved fun and challenging for us as we learn about solid shapes, work with graphs and tables, measure, compare with shapes and patterns, and solve mixed story problems.
• Science and social studies have been a blast for us! The students are learning about land, water, and air in science. We are currently working in teams to make landform models. We will display these in the library when we complete them. In social studies we are learning about our changing world. The students will be making a timeline of their parents' life to show these changes. They will also be learning about how our schools have evolved from one room school houses to the way they are today. The students sure enjoy science and social studies class!

• LOVE is in the air…a love of learning, a love of good books, a love of challenging math word problems, and a love of showing all we have learned and how we can shine using our tools and strategies. Students are becoming more and more independent in all areas as we prepare for our Dakota Step tests in April as well as being fourth graders next year.
•  Students have chosen the topic of their biography fair projects, thinking carefully about someone they'd like to learn more about and what his/her contributions have been to our country or the world.  Students will use their research in a variety of ways to showcase their person on May 3rd at 2:30 in the elementary gym. You are welcome to come and view the finished projects. We are proud when the community shares in our efforts and accomplishments.
•  We welcome student teacher, Kelsey Rozell, who will be working with third graders the next few months. The students benefit greatly from having an extra person in the classroom.
•  Third graders are studying ecosystems in science and reading a variety of science stories and articles to practice comprehension and use of graphic organizers. Social studies finds us incorporating biographies into Presidents' Day and our biography fair.  We are also studying monuments and symbols of our country.  Next month we will begin some U.S. history lessons.  As always, we continue to review the difference between cities, states, countries, and continents in addition to basic map skills. Weekly Reader helps us keep up on current events.

• 5th Grade ~ Chris Kucker & Janel Lone
