3 Dakotas teams lose at NAIA basketball tourneys

• JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) -- Half of the six teams from the Dakotas who made the NAIA Division II men's and women's basketball tournaments are going home.
• The Valley City State men's team on Wednesday lost 75-72 to Indiana University Southeast at the national tournament in Point Lookout, Mo.
• In the women's tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, Bethel defeated Valley City State 73-69, and Northwestern of Iowa downed Mayville State 92-66.
• Three more Dakotas teams play their first-round games Thursday: the Jamestown College men's and women's teams and the Dakota State men's team.

Sioux Falls police search for movie theater robber

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police are searching for a man who robbed a local movie theater.
• Authorities say a man walked up to a concession stand employee at the West Mall 7 Theatres shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday and demanded money. The suspect said he had a gun but did not display a weapon.
• The robber fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Man shot by Rapid police charged and jailed

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A man shot several times by a Rapid City police officer after allegedly threatening officers with a butcher knife has been released from the hospital and taken to jail.
• Twenty-year-old Elijah White Magpie faces numerous charges including attempted murder.
• White Magpie had been in the hospital since the Feb. 21 incident that began when he allegedly threw a rock through a window at the city library. He initially had been listed in critical condition.
• It was not immediately clear if White Magpie had an attorney. The attempted murder charge against him carries a maximum punishment of 25 years in prison upon conviction.
