No signs of abuse in body of duct-taped dog in SD

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities say there are no signs of abuse in a dead dog that was found wrapped in duct tape and abandoned in western South Dakota.
• A rock hunter found the body Monday on the frozen Cheyenne River in Pennington County. Sheriff's Capt. Corey Brubakken says the dog appeared to be wrapped with great care, leading investigators to believe it had been prepared for burial.
• Authorities are still trying to determine who owned the animal and how the dog's body ended up on the river.
• Officials estimate the mixed-breed pointer was 7-9 years old.

Several Dakotas teams in NAIA basketball tourneys

• JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) -- Several men's and women's college basketball teams from the Dakotas are playing in the NAIA Division II tournaments this week.
• Both the men's and women's teams from Valley City State and Jamestown College made the national tournament. The Dakota State men's team also made it, along with the Mayville State women. It's the first national tournament appearance for the Mayville State program.
• The women's tournament is in Sioux City, Iowa. The men play in Point Lookout, Mo. First-round play in both tournaments is Wednesday and Thursday.

Rapid City man assumes command of SD Guard company

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- A Rapid City man has assumed command of the South Dakota Army National Guard's 115th Brigade Signal Company.
• Capt. Bracken Robinson takes over from Capt. Samuel Bjornestad, who had served as the 115th leader since April 2011.
• A change of command ceremony was held last weekend in Brookings.
• The 115th provides 24-hour communications systems network to support the 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade headquartered in Sioux Falls.
