Claremont Recorder
By Beverly Patterson

Happy March everyone!  Someone needs to turn the weather meter to the "No More Snow" setting.  If I knew where it was I would be the first one there to change it.  We've seen weather like this many times in the past but if you're anything like me you can't wait for Spring to arrive.  I get so much energy and accomplish so many things when it's nice outside, even if I'm working on things inside.  I was in Bismarck this past weekend and on Saturday it was so incredibly nice that we opened some windows and doors and let the fresh air make it's way through the house.  There were little signs of green grass poking through the brown and it just made a person feel good.  Now back to the reality of March in Claremont.  I must say it's considerably different but we all know those nice days are coming and I will be more than happy to welcome them in!
• The Methodist youth enjoyed a fun filled weekend February 15 through the 17th.  Pastor Nancy  and Chris and Angie Sanderson accompanied 9 youth to the Black Hills.  They stayed at Storm Mountain Camp.  The skiing took place at Mystic Mountain.  They all had a wonderful time and thankfully everyone returned home with no injuries reported.
• The United Methodist Church hosted the World Day of Prayer in Claremont on Friday, March 1st.  Neighboring parishes from Langford and Rose Hill were a part of this special day.  The focus this year was on France.  With that in mind the ladies group served cream puffs and merinques topped with fresh fruit.  The decorating was done by Carol Hanse.
• Don Schatz and I, along with his parents, Don Sr and Judy Schatz of Fargo made our way to the Prairie Knights casino on Saturday.  We had a great time and enjoyed the buffet before returning to Don's home.  The day was finished off by several hands of  Hand & Foot.  I just learned how to play this game a few months ago and find it quite amusing.  We paired up, girls against boys which worked out well for the girls this time.  We played another game on Sunday before we headed for home and once again, the girls won!  I'm betting the guys probably won't let Judy and I be partners again.  At least not for a very very long time!
