• The Joint Appropriations Committee had planned to make a formal decision Monday. But House Appropriations Chairman Fred Romkema of Spearfish says the decision is delayed until at least Tuesday because the Legislature has not settled the fate of some other bills that could affect revenue collections.
• The committee later this week will put the finishing touches on the spending plan so the Legislature can pass the budget by Friday, the end of the main run of this year's legislative session.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard has proposed a $4.1 billion state budget, with $1.3 billion to come from state tax funds.

Judge orders $300K forfeiture in counterfeit case

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Two people have been ordered to forfeit about $300,000 in bank accounts and other items in a trademark violation case.
• Thirty-four-year-old Ravaye Meltzer and 29-year-old Bar Braver were convicted in federal court of trafficking in counterfeit goods and services.
• Authorities say Meltzer and Braver intentionally sold counterfeit goods near Rapid City, Keystone, Deadwood, Hill City and Sturgis between February 2010 and August 2011.
• U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Viken also ordered the two defendants to serve one year of probation.

SD House approved extension of weapons permits

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota lawmakers have given final approval to a bill that would make the state's concealed weapons permits valid for an extra year.
• The House voted unanimously to make the permits valid for five years, up from the current four years. The Senate approved the bill earlier, so it will become law if signed by Gov. Dennis Daugaard.
• Rep. Scott Craig of Rapid City says making concealed weapons permits valid for five years will bring South Dakota's law in line with laws in the neighboring states of Wyoming and Nebraska. He says making permits valid for an extra year will save time and money for South Dakota citizens.

South Dakotans get longer July 4 fireworks time

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakotans will have a little extra time to shoot off their July 4 fireworks.
