ture's Government Operations and Audit Committee (GOAC) oversight.
• Higher Wages -- The goal of higher wages and better jobs for skilled workers will be emphasized in statute as a goal of the state;
• Local effort -- The compromise further provides accountability and transparency by requiring that local communities participate and sacrifice when incentives are granted in that town or city. This provides greater scrutiny and screening.
• The proposal rejected by voters last November was a "one man band" approach to economic development. This compromise probably isn't perfect, but it creates an opportunity for a full orchestra of ideas and opportunities.  Now is the time for the public to continue to engage in dialog with their legislators.
• The proposed compromise will get a full hearing next week. Corporate lobbyists haven't seen it yet, and they will surely have some concerns and objections.  Nobody is likely to love the final write-up, but it is a major broadening of what constitutes economic development.
• So as we finish this session, please remember that your involvement is essential for good government.  Let us know what you are thinking as we work to help make SD strong and prosperous into the future

The recycling trailer is in Groton. It is located at the city shop at 10 East Railroad Ave. Don't forget, there is also a dumpster at the city shop for aluminum cans with the proceeds going to the pool.
