• Services for Rose Stange, 91, of Groton, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton.  The Rev. Craig Grams will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
• Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00.
• Rose was called to her heavenly home on February 22, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Groton. 
• Rose Leona Stange was born on May 5, 1921 in Lomira, Wisconsin, the daughter of August and Magdalena (Tisher) Nehring.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran (WELS) Church, town Lomira, WI, by the Rev. Wolter.
• Rose attended a one room rural school house known as the Schwartz School in town Lomira, grades 1-8.  Upon the death of her mother, Rose at age 12, went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Viola and John Schwartz in town Lomira, WI.  At an early age, Rose sought work to supplement the household income, working for various families as a housekeeper.  Later, she worked at the Baker Canning Factory in Theresa, WI.  At age 18, she spread her wings and began first as a housekeeper for wealthy households in Milwaukee, WI and then began waitressing at Rusty Hagen's restaurant and then at Solly's Coffee Shop, all in Milwaukee.
• On October 15, 1972, she married Robert Stange at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lomira, WI.  She moved to Columbia, SD and was Bob's helpmate on the Stange family farm, until Bob's death in July of 1998.  In June of 1999, Rose had an auction and then moved to Groton, SD.
• She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Columbia and later in Groton.  Rose was active in its Ladies Aid and Good Cheer Circle.  She was a member of Groton Senior Citizens and the James Valley Threshing Club.  She enjoyed her good old time music and rarely missed watching the Minnesota Twins on TV.
• Although Rose and Bob never had children of their own, she is survived by her nieces and nephew: Shirley (Gordon) Schultz, Leslie (Marlene) Schultz, Doris (Joe) Priesgen, Kathleen Krug, Clifford (Terry) Nehring all of Wisconsin, Milton Nehring of Bad Axe, Michigan and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.  She is further survived by the many, many friends she came to know here in South Dakota.
• Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Bob, her sisters, Viola Schwartz and Agnes Schwartz, her brother, Martin Nehring and two infant brothers, Lawrence and Clarence.
• Honorary Casketbearers will be Alfred Larson, Don Smillhoff, James Rose, Larry Pigors, Alvin Bahr and Art Bahr.
• Casketbearers will be Ray Larson, Carson Larson, Wyatt Larson, Don Kurtz, Isaac Abeln and Eddy Nehls.
• Memorials can be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church in Colombia or Groton.
