Daktronics president, CEO retiring by end of 2013

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota-based Daktronics Inc. has announced that its current president and chief executive officer will retire by the end of this year.

• The company says in a news release that Jim Morgan will retire by the end of 2013. The Daktronics Board of Directors has named Reece Kurtenbach to succeed Morgan. Kurtenbach is currently the executive vice president.
• Morgan has served as president and CEO of the company since 2001. He previously served as president and vice president for engineering and has been with the company since its first year of operation in 1969.
• Morgan says Kurtenbach is well-qualified to be president and CEO based on his capability in business unit and product development leadership.

Funeral services set for 4 members of SD family

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Funeral services are scheduled for four members of a Sioux Falls family who died in a traffic accident on Interstate 90 last weekend.
• The one-vehicle crash killed James and Julie Vollmer and their children, 16-year-old Alyssa and 13-year-old Caleb.
• Visitation is scheduled Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Sioux Falls Christian Schools.
• School officials say a fund has been established to assist the couple's surviving daughter, Brittany, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
