Petitions being turned in, deadline is Friday

• There have been petitions turned in for the city council and mayor positions, but to date, no election is still in the works.
• Mayor Roy Olson has turned in his petition for mayor. Kevin Nehls took out a petition for mayor, but has not turned it back in yet.
• In Ward 1, Brett Anderson is the incumbent, but he has not taken out a petition. Michelle Muillenberg has turned in a petition for Ward 1.
• In Ward 2, incumbent Eddy Opp has turned in his petition. Ron Belden took out a petition for Ward 2, but has not turned it in yet.
• In Ward 3, Mary Fliehs has turned in her petition. Incumbent Doug Hamilton has not taken out a petition.
• The deadline to turn petitions in is Friday.
• In action taken by the council Monday night:
• Accepted the low bid from TopKote, Inc., Yankton, for the 2013 Bituminous Street surfacing project. His bid came in at $96,100. The bids came in as high as

The recycling trailer is in Groton. It is located at the city shop at 10 East Railroad Ave. Don't forget, there is also a dumpster at the city shop for aluminum cans with the proceeds going to the pool.

2013 Groton Area Elementary
Kindergarten Screening
Feb. 25 - March 1

Parents of children ages 3-6 not yet attending school are asked to contact Heidi Krueger at the Groton Area Elementary School during school hours at 397-2317 to set up a screening time.

Kindergarten Screening will take place at the Groton Area High School Gymnasium.  Please park and use the east entrance to the gym.
