penses declared uncollectable, such as lightning strikes or cigarettes thrown out car windows along the highway. The Fire Board wrote off over $13, 000 of uncollectable costs last month.
• The board will be sending out letters of proposal to local concrete contractors asking if they would like to submit bids for a new concrete apron along the south side of the fire hall. The proposed apron would be 100 feet by 10 feet or 100 feet by 15 feet. The work would have time constraints built in so that access to fire equipment would not be limited. Letters should be going out soon and would be due back by the next meeting.
• After inspecting the fire trucks, board member Rick Pigors commented on the fact that only four of the 11 trucks had fire extinguishers in them. It has also been some time since the extinguishers in the building had been inspected. It was recommended that Safety First, Aberdeen, come in and do a survey of the needs for the fire department and then get on a inspection rotation with the company to do annual inspections. At one time there were extinguishers in each truck.
• All of the Groton engines have completed their annual maintenance. Arrangements to start on the Bath Station trucks will be made. Truck World of Stratford has been doing the maintenance, and will continue with the maintenance of the freightliner while Groton Ford will do the rest.
• A new board was elected for the coming year. It will look the same as last year's board as Bruce Sippel, Bob Osterman and Butch Radke were reelected to two year terms representing the outlying Groton area and Dale Ringgenburg was reelected to represent Groton City. The officer team also remains the same. Osterman remains
