Eight grapplers qualify of state, place second at region

• Eight wrestlers will be representing Groton at the state wrestling tournament as the regional tournament was held Saturday in Redfield. The Tigers took second at the regions behind Webster Area. • Webster Area won the regional title with 179 points followed by Groton Area with 154, Faulkton 140, Deuel 100, Clark-Willow Lake 97, Kingsbury County 81.5, Redfield-Doland 72, Britton-Hecla/Langford Area 71, Roncalli 61.5, Sioux Valley 47.5, Ipswich-Leola 20, Warner-Northwestern 18 and Tiospa Zina 3. • The eight wrestlers who placed at the region and qualified for the state tournament are: • Second: Kelby Hawkins at 106 pounds. He is an eighth grader with a 36-2 record.
