USD hosting exhibition about former Gov. Janklow

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- The University of South Dakota is hosting an exhibition showcasing documents and materials belonging to former Gov. Bill Janklow.
• Janklow died in January 2012 at age 72 from brain cancer.
• The exhibition, which runs until April 16 at the University Libraries, gives a background to the official and personal papers of Janklow.
• Visitors can also get a glimpse into the William J. Janklow Papers at the USD Archives & Special Collections. The Janklow collection includes documents, letters, photographs, newspapers, audio recordings, and videos spanning more than 50 years.

South Dakota Legislature: What to know this week

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- On tap this week in the South Dakota Legislature: a special hearing on expanding Medicaid to cover more people and special spending bills that include proposals to boost state financial aid to school districts.
• Here are five things to know heading into the session's seventh week:

• CROSSOVER DAY
• The Legislature is off Monday for the President's Day holiday, but the House and Senate will work hard Tuesday and Wednesday as they face the deadline for getting bills out of the chamber in which they originated. That deadline, called crossover day, is Wednesday. All Senate bills must be dealt with by the Senate -- either passed and sent to the House or killed -- and the House must finish work on its own bills. Leaders of the Republican majority said both chambers are in good shape to meet the deadline.
