SD woman sentenced in asphyxiation death of child

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota woman has been sentenced to six months in custody and six months of home confinement for the asphyxiation death of a child.
• The U.S. Attorney's Office says Kristen Bear Heels, of Mission, caused the death of a child under 7 by overlaying, which involves accidentally rolling over onto the victim.
• The 29-year-old Bear Heels pleaded guilty in November to involuntary manslaughter.
• U.S. District Judge Roberto Lange also ordered Bear Heels to serve 18 months of probation.

Huron industrial park designated as SD certified

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- An industrial park in Huron has been approved as a South Dakota Certified Ready Site, a designation that helps attract prospective buyers.
• State Economic Development Commissioner Pat Costello says the certification of the Huron West Industrial Park will allow businesses to get information that will make it easier to select and develop a site in the park.
• The program was launched last year to help cities, counties and developers promote commercial, industrial and technology-based sites that are ready for development.
• Jim Borszich, president of the Greater Huron Development Corp., says the presence of a certified ready site will make it easier to attract companies to Huron.
• The Huron West Industrial Park covers 61 acres and is certified and zoned heavy industry.

Tourism Secretary invites Obama to visit SD

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The secretary of South Dakota's Department of Tourism is hoping President Obama will make a stop in the Mount Rushmore State during his new presidential term.
• Tourism Secretary James Hagen says South Dakota is one of only a handful of states Obama did not visit during his first term. Hagen wrote a letter to Obama a few
