SD officials gets business leads at outdoors show

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota officials say they made some promising contacts with outdoors businesses while attending last month's Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show in Las Vegas.
• South Dakota has an ongoing effort to attract businesses that make firearms, ammunition and other equipment and supplies for shooting and hunting.
• State Economic Development Commissioner Pat Costello says South Dakota officials have attended the show for the past 12 years. He says the delegation held more than 25 meetings during this year's show with South Dakota companies and new and existing prospects.
• The show was attended by 62,000 people and featured 1,600 exhibitors. Nine South Dakota companies were exhibiting independently at the event.

SD park officials launching new campsite website

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota parks officials say they're putting the final touches on a new campsite reservation website.
• Parks and Recreation Director Doug Hofer says the new site will soon have all of the features that campers are used to.
• The website will also be adding a campsite availability calendar and customer logins.
• Campers wishing to book more than one campsite at a time are asked to reserve them through the call center at 1-800-710-2267.
• Reservations for camping in most state parks can be made within 90 days of arrival dates. Reservations can be made one year in advance for campsites at Custer State Park and for lodges in all state parks and recreation areas.

Annual outhouse races Saturday in Nemo

• NEMO, S.D. (AP) -- Teams from across western South Dakota will be competing for glory and bragging rights at the annual Nemo 500 Outhouse Races on Saturday.
• The 7th annual event is free and open to spectators. It's being held at the Nemo Guest Ranch. Check in starts at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 11:30 a.m.
