• Powerball is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot sits at $40 million for the next drawing, on Saturday.
• Separately, a Canton woman has claimed a $6,000 Wild Card 2 prize. Gloria Bartels' ticket was one of two sold for the Feb. 2 drawing that was worth $6,000. The other ticket was sold in Pierre and has yet to be claimed. Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho.

South Dakota man pleads guilty to counterfeiting

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A Hot Springs man has pleaded guilty to a counterfeiting charge after being caught trying to pass phony $20 bills in Rapid City.
• Thirty-five-year-old Jeffrey Walsh was accused of using the bogus bills at four stores last August.
• U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Walsh faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on June 7.

SD sheep and lamb production down over the year

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The number of sheep and lambs in South Dakota is down from a year ago.
• The federal Agriculture Department says in a new report that the state's sheep and lamb inventory on Jan. 1 totaled 275,000 animals, down 10,000 from the previous year.
• The breeding herd was down 5,000 head to 220,000 animals. The marketing herd also decreased 5,000, to 55,000 head.
• The 2012 lamb crop totaled 230,000 head, down 5,000 over the year. Wool production was down 80,000 pounds to 1.89 million pounds.
