Canton woman claims $6,000 lottery ticket

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A Canton woman has claimed a $6,000 Wild Card 2 lottery prize.
• Lottery officials say Gloria Bartels' ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Wild Card in the Feb. 2 drawing to win the game's $6,000 second prize.
• The odds of winning the prize are one in about 127,000.
• The local store where Bartels bought the ticket will receive a $600 bonus for the sale.
• Bartels' ticket was one of two sold for the Feb. 2 drawing that was worth $6,000. The other ticket was sold in Pierre and has yet to be claimed.
• Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho.

US Attorney ends term as head of panel

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Brendan Johnson, U.S. attorney for South Dakota, has completed his term as chairman of a Justice Department panel dealing with Native American Issues.
• Johnson had been chairman of the Native American Issues Subcommittee since 2009. He says the Justice Department has worked with tribal officials to empower tribal courts, increase law enforcement cooperation and improve public safety in reservation areas.
• Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed Timothy Q. Purdon, U.S. attorney for North Dakota, to replace Johnson as chair of the Native American Issues Subcommittee.
• Johnson says he will continue to advise the attorney general as a member of panel of U.S. attorneys that look at policy, management and operating issues that affect U.S. attorneys.
