Home, machine shed, business in SD hit by fire

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Fire has destroyed a home north of Sioux Falls and a machine shed near Draper, and damaged a business in Vermillion.
• Authorities say a man in the home near Sioux Falls suffered minor burns on an arm in the Sunday morning blaze. He was alone in the home when the fire started in the living room and spread to the attic.
• The machine shed caught fire Saturday afternoon. The Jones County Sheriff's Department says farm equipment including a couple of tractors inside also burned. Authorities believe an electrical heater on one of the tractors sparked the blaze.
• Midwest Ag in Vermillion suffered an estimated $50,000 in damage in a Friday night fire. Malfunctioning equipment also is blamed in that blaze.

Watertown woman claims $6,001 lottery prize

• WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) -- A Watertown woman has claimed a $6,001 Wild Card 2 lottery prize.
• Vanessa Victor's ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Wild Card in the Jan. 30 drawing to win the game's $6,000 second prize. The ticket also won another $1 on another play line.
• The odds of winning the prize are one in about 127,000. Victor is the first player to win it since the amount was raised from $5,000 to $6,000 earlier this year.
• Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho.

SD inmate absconds from minimum-security unit

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for an inmate who left a minimum-security unit at the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls without authorization.
• Corrections officials say 31-year-old Jarod Shoemaker was assigned to a community transition program. He absconded Monday morning.
• Shoemaker had been serving 10 years on charges related to a Yankton County escape and a Davison County weapons violation.
