January Lazy Farmers 4-H

• The January Meeting of the Lazy Farmers was held on January 6, 2013 at Doug and Vicci Stange's Farm.  The meeting was hosted by all with potluck.  Members were taught basic safety and welding technique, including how to run a bead and make a horseshoe hook. 
• The meeting was called to order by President Wyatt Sombke.  Pledge of Allegiance was led by Travis Townsend and the 4-H pledge was led by Tessa Erdmann.  Roll Call topic was "What was one gift you received for Christmas?". 
• The December Secretaries minutes were read by Alex Stange and a motion was made by Tanae Lipp and second by Brooklyn Gilbert to approve.  The Treasurer's report was given by Alex Stange and a motion was made by Maryn Howard and second by Tessa Erdmann to approve.
• Old Business included any community service projects completed by members during the month of December; Kari Hanson taught Sunday School and Music.
•  A reminder that once you are registered online, you need to go back and enroll in your project areas for the current 4-H year.
• Horse workshop dates ( 1st Saturday 10-12 and 4th Wednesday 6-8 of the month) were reminded.  Fair Premium addresses were given to the members as a reminder to write thank yous for their project ribbon premiums.
• New Business included; Welding today prior to the meeting.  If interested in entering your project at fair, remember to enter the welding project area.  A club goal of "To try a new project" was approved with a motion by Kari Hanson and second by Brody Sombke.    January Newshound was read by president Wyatt. 
• The Next meeting will be Sunday February 10, 2013 at 1:00 at the Groton Community Center.  This day is specifically set to provide your public presentations to the club. This meeting change was approved with a motion from Tanae  and second by Brooklyn.
• A motion to adjourn was made by Turner and second by Alex.
• Cassandra Townsend gave a talk on "how to take a good 4-H picture" and a demonstration on "how to groom your rabbit".  Alex Stange gave a talk on "Carrie Underwood".
• A few reminder dates include:  BB Gun safety will be held Jan.7 @ 7:00 at Northern Electric and practices will be held Monday evenings at 7.  Archery practice will be held on Tuesday's at 6:30 at the Brown County Fairgrounds Club House. Market Beef enrollment deadline is March 31 and all other livestock enrollment is May 31. Community and Family Extension Leader's scholarship deadline for application is February 22.
