• "It was pretty awesome hearing the skaters cheer after each display," Committee member Carol Smith said. "It was a great way to celebrate 75 years of ice skating in Groton."

Groton Schools keeps on top of technology

• Today's technology offers endless possibilities for learning, but it is also always changing. That's why the Groton School Board is looking at placing Ipads in both schools over the next three years.
• The Ipads cost about half the price of a laptop, hold all the information of a text book and many of the apps are free of charge. They also weight less, reducing the weight students would need to carry to, from and around the school each day. Reducing the need for text books and helping eliminate some of the need for printing and copying.
• The school would continue with the laptops for the next school year for the sophomores, juniors and seniors; however the proposal would allow the teachers and staff to get Ipads and laptops to start the transition. Ipads would also be available to students in both schools through the use of computer carts. The following
