fire in Sioux Falls that killed three children because the home was so badly damaged, investigators announced Tuesday.
• The Dec. 22 blaze killed Michael Hensley, 16, Savannah Coon, 12, and Alivia Coon, 6. Their mother, Rhiannon White, and her husband escaped with minor injuries by jumping from a second-floor window.
• City Fire Marshall Dean Lanier said officials think the fire started in the home's living room but the cause can't be determined, according to a Tuesday Argus Leader story (http://argusne.ws/YCdmEo ).
• "The focus in that living space was a table and chair that sat up against a wall in the living room," Lanier said. "We found this area to be the origin of the fire. However, due to the lack of evidence, we are going to have to list the fire as undetermined."
• The home was so damaged that authorities were unable to enter it for a couple weeks.
• White, 34, faces drug charges for allegedly having methamphetamine and ecstasy in her body at the time of the fire. Police spokesman Sam Clemens said there was no evidence of drugs or paraphernalia inside the home.

Man faces charges in Sioux Falls police chase

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Bond has been set at $20,000 for a man accused of leading Sioux Falls police on a vehicle chase, punching one officer and kicking another, and slamming a police dog in his truck door.
• Authorities allege that 52-year-old David Mortensbak was drunk at the time of the incident Saturday night. He made his initial court appearance Monday on numerous charges including assault on a law officer and injuring a law enforcement animal. He did not enter pleas.
• Mortensbak was treated after the incident for dog bites. The officers and police dog were not seriously injured.

SD doctor settles over Medicaid billing dispute

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The state of South Dakota has reached a settlement with a Sioux Falls doctor over a Medicaid billing dispute.
• Attorney General Marty Jackley says in a statement that Annette Bosworth has agreed to pay about $5,500 in the civil settlement. The state claimed that Bosworth submitted reimbursement claims to Medicaid that contained inaccurate information
