• The House Commerce Committee on Monday is looking at a bill that would stop businesses and employers from prohibiting people to have guns or ammunition in parking lots.
• The measure, sponsored by Rep. Lance Russell, R-Hot Springs, would allow guns and ammunition in parking lots if they are locked out of sight in a vehicle.

• Visitors to the Capitol or those who listen to committee hearings on the Internet may wonder why so many bills get deferred to the 41st legislative day. That's really a way to kill a bill because there is no 41st day in the legislative session.
• This year's legislative session is scheduled to go only 38 days, and no session is supposed to exceed 40 days.

Airmen return to Ellsworth after overseas duty

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- About 200 airmen have returned to Ellsworth Air Force Base after about six months overseas.
• The airmen served in southwest Asia, helping with surveillance and munitions. They were met Sunday night by hundreds of family members and others.
• Airman 1st Class Yuri McMurray says it was nice to see so many people who cared. Senior Master Sgt. David York says being away from family is tough, and seeing his wife and two children made him cry.
• More personnel will be arriving home at the southwest South Dakota base later in the week. About 350 airmen were deployed earlier this month to take the place of those coming home.

Drivers in the Dakotas deal with slick roads

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Freezing rain is causing travel problems in parts of the Dakotas.
• The National Weather Service early Monday issued advisories for freezing rain and wintry weather in eastern North Dakota, and northeastern and east central South Dakota. The rain was forecast to turn to snow later in the day, with heavy
