Grapplers ties season record with 14 dual wins

• Adding two more wins to their record, the Groton wrestling team remains on track to beat last season's record of 14 dual wins. Groton hosted Deuel and Clark/Willow Lake in a triangular meet on Thursday. Groton defeated both Deuel, 60-18, and Clark/Willow Lake, 4-31. In the third match Clark/Willow Lake defeated Deuel 39-18.
• "We got off to a slow start," Head Coach Chris Kucker said. "I would have liked to see a little more aggression. Between the matches we talked about wrestling with heart, to keep going and not to give up. It paid off; we did better in the second match."
• Kelby Hawkins and Brandyn Anderson each won both of their matches. Rayce Harder, Brook Anderson, and Dalton Locke each won one match by forfeit and the second match by defeating their opponents.
• In an exhibition match Trevor Pray defeated Chris Landmark of Deuel 16-0.
• Groton will host the Lion's Tournament on Saturday. The tournament starts at 10am. Twelve teams are scheduled to be here on Saturday, many of the teams are AA schools
• "We should do well in the tournament," Kucker said. "We should be one of the top two teams."
