ND couple ordered to stop alleged building scam

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem (STEHN'-juhm) has ordered a Fargo couple who allegedly ran a building scam to stop doing business in the state.
• George Nelson III and Karla Nelson already are charged in South Dakota, and George Nelson has been incarcerated in Minnesota for a similar scam. Stenehjem alleges that the Nelsons scammed consumers in at least nine North Dakota counties, taking money in advance and doing little or no work. He says they also allegedly operated without a contractor's license.
• A telephone listing for the Nelsons in Fargo is disconnected.
• Authorities say the Nelsons have done business under numerous names, including Baron Buildings and Ag Pro Buildings.

Flooded dorm reopens at USD after repairs wrap up

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- A student dormitory has reopened on the University of South Dakota campus after being shut down since Monday due to a water line break.
• University spokeswoman Tena Haraldson says students were returning to Coyote Village on Thursday morning, after crews finished cleaning up the mess and restoring electricity.
• USD put hundreds of students up in a hotel for three nights, catering food for them and offering a shuttle service to campus. Haralson says the cost to the university for that and the repairs is still being calculated, but she says "it's going to be significant."
• Officials are investigating whether the water line broke because of extreme cold.
