community. One statement was from the Groton Transit Company and the other was from the City of Groton. Both commended Gerdes for his "willingness to help out when needed and always having a smile and friendly attitude to everyone he meets".
• The other award was the Outstanding Business of the Year Award, which was presented to Tom and Jack Mahan and Pioneer Ford. Tom Mahan spoke about the 100 years Pioneer Ford has been on Main Street and the future of the new Groton Ford. He also stated that it "was wonderful to have had the opportunity to work with his
