Cyclones whirl past Lady Tigers

• Groton kept pace with Clark-Willow Lake in the first quarter, but quickly fell behind in the second quarter as the Lady Cyclones defeated Groton Area, 65-28.
• It was a 19-13 first quarter lead for Clark-Willow Lake. Groton only scored two points in the second quarter as the Cyclones took a 36-15 lead at half time and a 54-23 lead at the end of the third quarter. Groton's only scoring in the fourth quarter came from free throws as the Tigers made five of 10 shots.
• Tori Bjerke led Groton with eight points followed by Camille Sippel and Courtney Kurtz with six each and Halle Dohman, Kylie Hawkins, Carly Wheeting and Natalia Dohman each added two points.
• Chynna Stevens led the Cyclones with 27 points followed by MacKenzie Huber with 15, Morgan Huber and MiKayla Prouty each had eight, Laura Alexander and four and Janelle Paulson added three points.'
• Groton made 11 of 43 field goals, six of 17 free throws, had 20 rebounds with Bjerke having five, nine steals with Kurtz having tow, five assists with Sippel and Kurtz each having two and 12 turnovers.
• The Cyclones won the junior varsity game, 30-20. A. Wanner led Groton with six points followed by Wheeting with five, A. Gibbs had three, Bjerke, Dohman and Marlee Jones each had two points.
