jects the Chamber is working on. These projects include signs or banners welcoming visitors to Groton. A major project the Chamber is working on in conjunction with the City of Groton and the Groton School District is a 4x10 digital sign for along US Highway 12.
• "The old sign was in need of repair," Jondahl said," It was sitting in the State's Right of Way and had to be removed. The new sign will be a great addition to the community and help promote the activities of the Chamber, school and the City."
• It is hoped that the new sign will be in place by the fall of 2013, but a site has yet to be chosen. The new sign is expected to cost around $40,000.
• The guest speakers for the night were Dr. David Olson and Dr. Randy Cantrell. They presented the finding of a four year study on "How to Market Small Towns."
• The study was funded by a grant through the USDA and featured two small towns in three states, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. Groton was one of the towns looked at in South Dakota.
• One of the reasons Groton was chosen for the study is that Groton has a growing population and is a county that is growing jobs faster than the population can keep up with. The study used surveys, labor market reports, and focus groups to see how small towns can market themselves to people looking to
