Coyne brings YMCA volleyball to Groton

• April Coyne has been instrumental in bringing the YMCA volleyball program to Groton. There are 56 girls in grades three through six. "There was enough interest to do something for them here in town," Coyne said.  There are 30 girls in grades five and six and 26 in grades three and four. "It saves a lot of travel time for parents," Coyne said.
• In Coyne's seven years of teaching, this is the first year that she has not been a head volleyball coach. She coached at Presentation College, Henry and Webster High School. "Working with the younger girls different, but fun," she said. On Sundays, they have the skills session for all girls in the Arena. Then during the week, there is one day of practice for each individual group. Assisting Coyne are Maddie Colestock, Regan Lewandowski and Kelsey Waage.
