1916: Record cold continued on this date in weather history in 1916 across central and northeast South Dakota as well as west central Minnesota. Aberdeen, Kennebec, Mobridge, Timber Lake, Watertown, and Wheaton all set record lows. The record lows were 24 degrees below zero at Kennebec, 28 degrees below zero at Wheaton, 31 degrees below zero at Timber Lake, 35 degrees below zero at Mobridge, 36 degrees below zero at Aberdeen, and 38 degrees below zero at Watertown.

1969: Late on the 14th to early on the 16th, freezing rain mixed with snow in western Minnesota caused many treacherous roads with several accidents occurring.

1882: Southern California experienced its greatest snowfall on record. San Bernardino reported 15 inches of snow, while even San Diego reported a trace.

1932: In Lexington, TN a tornado struck a house killing at least ten members of a family.

1972: The U.S. record 24-hour temperature rise occurred at Loma, MT when the mercury rocketed 103 degrees from -54F to 49F thanks to a powerful chinook.
