at Watertown. In Aberdeen, the low temperature of -42 degrees tied the third coldest temperature ever recorded. The coldest temperature ever recorded in Aberdeen was -46 degrees.

1912: The lowest temperature recorded in Maryland was -40 F in Oakland.

1982: Air Florida Flight 90 crashed shortly after take-off from National Airport. Due to snow and ice build-up from a blizzard, the plane stalled and hit a bridge before splashing into the Potomac River. 74 people were killed, including five in cars crushed on the bridge.
