• House Interns work under the guidance of the Legislative Research Council and serve the Senators of the Democratic Caucus in tasks including attending committee hearings and writing summary report, doing research on legislation, and a wide variety of other duties as needed to assist State Representatives.  Many of the Interns are also attending classes taught by the various departments of state government and will receive college credit during their time in Pierre. Presentations are made during these classes by Chief Justice David Gilbertson, Legislative Leadership from both parties, and members of the Governor's Cabinet.
• Interns are encouraged to work hard and come home exhausted from the process and the depth of the knowledge and experience they will gain.  The members of the Democratic Caucus of the State House are proud to have such outstanding young South Dakotans aiding them during this Legislative Session.
