Lady Tigers hold off Bearcat rally

• Friday's girls' basketball game against Webster proved to be a fast-paced, aggressive game between two evenly matched teams. The Lady Tigers were able to jump to the early lead and win the game, despite a fourth quarter rally by the Bearcats. The final score was 44-41.
• Groton took advantage of the Bearcats' first quarter foul problems to jump to an early lead. The Lady Tigers made five trips to the line, sinking seven of their 10 attempts. The Bearcats were only able to sink three baskets in the first quarter. By the end of the first quarter, Webster had just as many fouls as they had points on the board. The first quarter ended, 18-9.
• During the second quarter, the Lady Tigers continued applying a full court press on the Webster offense that had proved so effective in the first quarter. While the Lady Tigers were often able to steal the ball or force the turnovers, they were unable to capitalize on it and
