1993: A five-day snowstorm dropped 26 inches of snow on parts of Salt Lake City from the 4th to the 8th.

1996: The "Blizzard of 1996" dumped 20 inches of snow in New York City. Up to three feet of snow fell on the Appalachians from Virginia to Pennsylvania.

2006: Tropical Storm Zeta dissipated after having formed on December 29, marking an end to the 2005 hurricane season. It was the 30th storm of the record-breaking season, and one of only two tropical storms on record to span two calendar years (with Hurricane Alice in 1954-55).
